The Space
Located in Rooms 1, 2, 3 & 4 of Sansome School, we’ve put a lot of thought into the space our children and staff spend a large part of their day in. Our colour choices, removal of clutter, nature elements, displays of children’s artwork, and photos of their families, have all been chosen specifically to enhance the feeling you get when walking into our space. Various areas such as Dramatic Play, Art, and Library allow for quiet, imaginative play while other areas such as Games & Puzzles, Building & Construction, and “The Zone” allow for more social interaction.
We have made a very conscious choice to make our centre feel more like “home”. Bulletin Boards are few, and lamps, fountains, electric fireplaces and photos of the children are abundant.
We spend our lunches and snack times together in the familial setting of our kitchen. Staff and children sit together so that we can visit and share in each other’s company. We offer healthy, nutritious, peanut-free food, often made onsite.
Environments
At WCCC, we strive to provide an environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Our program offers engaging activities that are challenging but taylored for each individual child. We take pride and care into making our environment warm and welcoming with comfortable seating and calm lighting. Connecting children to nature is a large part of what we do. We spend a lot of time outdoors and bring nature into our program. Tree stumps, nature-based materials and lots of plant life fill our classrooms. Children learn best by exploring the world around them!
